OVER 250 PHONES DONATED TO JACKSON, LYTLE & WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS COLLECTION DRIVE

Springfield, Ohio, February 2, 2008:  Jackson, Lytle and Williams Funeral Home announced on November 21st  that it was the official drop off site for used cell phones for the Cell Phones for Soldiers program.  In just over two months the Springfield community has had a great response and donated over 250 phones to this program.

The donated phones are sent to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers for each phone, enough to provide an hour of talk time to soldiers abroad.

More than 150,000 troops are serving overseas and are away from their families. Americans will replace 130 million cell phones this year.  Cell Phones for Soldiers is asking all Americans to support these brave men and women by donating your old unused cell phones to help troops stay connected with their families.

Cell Phones for Soldiers expected to turn old cell phones into more than 12 million minutes of prepaid calling cards for U.S. Troops overseas in 2008.

“The response to this cause has been outstanding.  We’re proud to be part of such a great community and program to show our support for U.S. soldiers, and to contribute to a worthy cause like Cell Phones for Soldiers” says Frank Lewis, owner of Jackson, Lytle & Williams Funeral Home.

Approximately half of the phones ReCellular processes are reconditioned and resold to wholesale companies in over 40 countries around the world. Phones and components that cannot be refurbished are dismantled and recycled to reclaim materials.

Local residents can support the collection drive by donating their phones at  Jackson, Lytle & Williams Funeral Home located at 2425 N. Limestone our phone number is 937-399-2811, if you want more information.
